# PL Rating

{% hint style="info" %}
**For insurance agents.** This page covers which policies you can rate with PL Rating and what to do if a rating doesn't go through.
{% endhint %}

PL Rating pre-fills a quote from a client's submitted policy, so you can skip re-keying their information by hand.

## Which policies PL Rating supports

From InsurGrid, PL Rating can pre-fill:

* Personal Auto
* Homeowners (including renters and condo)

These are the policy types you can open in PL Rating from InsurGrid. Other policy types can't be opened in PL Rating from InsurGrid.

## What PL Rating can't rate

Within an auto policy, PL Rating can't rate the following:

* Trailers
* Fifth-wheels
* Motorhomes
* Motorcycles
* Watercraft

For an auto policy that includes one of these, the **Open in PL Rating** button still appears — the policy type (auto) is supported — but the rating can't complete for the unsupported risk.

## If a rating doesn't go through

* Don't change the client's actual policy just to get a quote to rate.
* If one of the unsupported risks above is involved, quote that risk separately through your agency's usual workflow for it.
* For any other problem, note the message shown on screen and contact <support@insurgrid.com> with a description of the issue. Don't include full policy documents or client-sensitive details unless support asks for them.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.insurgrid.com/pl-rating.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
